Music composed for The documentary movie about Elżbieta's Jabłońska art work called "Nowe Życie" (New Life)
Ten-meter neon inscription "Nowe Życie" illuminated the Agricultural Production Cooperative in Trzeciewiec near Bydgoszcz in the 1970s. The forgotten neon sign was discovered in 2005 by the artist Elżbieta Jabłońska and she gave it a completely new, artistic life. Thanks to the help of several Polish galleries, each letter consisting of several hand-bent tubes was repaired and shone with a characteristic neon glow. Reconstruction of the light layer, replacement of electrical parts and restarting the facility took place in 2009. Since then, the neon "Nowe Życie", already as an artistic project, delights again, traveling from place to place and initiating new events. It has been exhibited many times in public spaces, institutions, galleries and museums, mainly in Poland, but also abroad. The name of the neon becomes the starting point for many artistic activities and discussions on the subject of change.
One of the most important forms of presentation was the neon journey to the 'COMMON AF-FAIRS. REVISITING THE VIEWS AWARD - CONTEMPORARY ART FROM POLAND "prepared by Zachęta National Gallery of Art, Deutsche Bank KunstHalle and Polnisches Institut Berlin.
The trip took place in 2016. The work was transported by water from Nakło nad Notecią to Berlin (partly via the E70 International Waterway) on the Władysław Łokietek ship, belonging to the School of Inland Navigation in Nakło. The artist, who recorded the cruise in the form of a film and photos documenting the entire project, participated in this extraordinary six-day journey, which the neon installed on the side of the ship made.
The film documentation of this journey, entitled "New Life", is a separate, autonomous form that allows the audience a 45-minute long observation of the changing landscape, seen from the perspective of the river. Both the image by Elżbieta Jabłońska and the accompanying sound performed by Wojtek Kotwicki are spontaneous, impressionable travel record.
"The white neon on an old rusty structure is a symbol of a" revived "idea that fits perfectly into various contexts. It is also a continuation of activities related to finding content in everyday reality and transferring it to the area of art. The title New Life does not have to mean a revolution, a coup, it does not necessarily have to end. It can happen anywhere and at any time. It's about getting ready to change, to open up to the unknown, to look for new solutions for yourself, but also for places that lose their meaning. "
